For patients, the application ‘Qural’ will “always be free”

A healthcare app for patients, physicians, pharmacies and laboratories called ‘Qural’ to interconnect and benefit from the easier access to information and services it facilitates has been unveiled by software solution firm, Saince.

The Atlanta, US-based firm, whose Indian arm, Saince HealthTech has a development centre in Hyderabad, on Friday said this free to use app, in beta mode for a month, is now commercially available in app stores.

The Qural (pronounced cure-all) app is an “integrated platform connecting all stakeholders in healthcare delivery in an intuitive manner,” Saince Inc president Raghu Vir said during a media interaction here on Friday.

The company plans to launch the app in all major metros by December.

On the app, medicines can be ordered from neighbourhood pharmacy and there is an option to search for laboratories.

The app will help physicians manage their appointments, write e-prescriptions and order for tests for their patients. It also comes with an in-built electronic drug database and doctors can also use the integrated EMR for documenting the patient care they provide.

Qural enables the pharmacies to accept online orders and provide ‘take-away’ or ‘home delivery’ service to customers. The app gives laboratories an ability to accept and process electronic orders received from their referring doctor community and schedule patient appointments.

For patients, the app will “always be free”, he said, adding the company is considering various revenue generation options, including through premium listing, advertisements and a transaction fee from the service providers. The company has invested ₹50 crore to build the platform and drug database technology.

To a query, he said there are plans to raise the headcount of the Hyderabad office from 50 to 150 by year-end.
